Laughing Bird Caye is a marine reserve.  The small island is studded with beautiful palm trees, a powdery white beach and unbeatable snorkeling. As it is protected it is teaming with underwater life and extremely healthy coral.  It is named after the laughing gull which breeds on the island. In 1996, the Belize barrier reef reserve system was inscribed on the world heritage list with Laughing Bird Caye National Park, designated as one of the premier protected areas within the World Heritage Site.
